Health Facilities Officially Handed Over in South-East Liberia

A project we are truly proud of has reached its finish line.

On January 22, 2026, Welthungerhilfe — with funding from the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW and BMZ — officially handed over the completed and upgraded health facilities of its Health System Strengthening Project in South-East Liberia. The ceremony was officiated by Jeremiah Koung, Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, on behalf of H.E. President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.

Yess Pharma GmbH was proud to be a partner in this project: we delivered the medical equipment for eight remote health facilities across the region — among them the Grand Gedeh County Referral Hospital, Barbloh County Hospital and health centers in Kilepo, Jaytoken, Saas Town, Roselyn Toe Massaquoi and Kwitatouzon. It was one of the most challenging projects we have carried out in recent years, with goods sourced from multiple manufacturers across different countries and installed in some of the most remote corners of Liberia.

With the excellent cooperation and guidance of Welthungerhilfe Liberia and the strong support of our local partner DCL, installation and commissioning were completed in record time.

These investments significantly expand access to quality healthcare for hundreds of thousands of people — strengthening maternal and child health, emergency and surgical services, disease control, clean water access and renewable-energy-powered facilities. The handover marks the transition from project implementation to government stewardship: healthcare infrastructure that now belongs, fully and permanently, to the people it serves.

Looking forward to new projects!
